iPad
We were struggling to think of a reason to buy one – but that was solved when we had a party. We had the usual touchscreen jukebox up and running – but its a pain having to set all that up and make people walk in to the kitchen to change the record.. if only there was a portable option….!

(above – how the iPad could look running albumplayer jukebox software)
So – the iPad. We’re buying one with the hope that there will be some decent jukebox software written. This single unit will replace the touchscreen we have in the kitchen.
Our Plan
Our plan is to house a (windows) PC up in the “server cupboard” which runs AlbumPlayer (the best jukebox software, ever) and using the iPad, VNC to that. The user will not know that they’re on a PC – they’ll just be presented with the jukebox interface.
Bingo! a remote iPad jukebox. I can’t wait.
iPhone Interface
What would also be neat is that in addition to the iPad jukebox, iPhone users should be able to navigate to the iPad IP address and see a list of artists through a web browser… or better still, a dedicated iPhone jukebox app which conects to the iPad… the possibilities are endless!

Hey, folks!
I’m searching for years now for a good jukebox solution. And today I found your site, which includes more useful infos then I did find in many years. I only knew DSD-Jukebox which is almost outdated.
Thanks for your great tips. But I’m interested in your iPad plan. Did it work out or didn’t you have the chance to test it?
I’m also using a mac and missing this section here a little bit. Apart from that, great site!!
cheers, pb

Thanks for the comments! I haven’t yet got an iPad as we’re expecting a baby soon, so priorities have changed!! I am currently using a PC jukebox upstairs which runs itunes… then wireless speakers around the house and I use the “Remote” app on my iphone to control the jukebox… ideally, the iPad will one day BE the jukebox…..! Maybe for my daughter’s first birthday…

Hi Admin,
What wireless speakers are you using?

@Andrew – I am using Veho wireless speakers. They are pretty good, but the sound quality isn’t all that great. I have modified them to use my Bose speakers and now they are MUCH better! (check out http://www.touchscreenjukeboxes.co.uk/modified-veho-wireless-speakers)
