iTunesTouch Installation & User Guide
This page will take you through the various installation and user questions which have been asked. If you’ve any more comments or questions, please feel free to post a comment on this page below
Installing iTunesTouch
To install iTunesTouch simply open the install file and follow the prompts.
Running iTunesTouch
Once the application has been installed, you can select to run it immediately or just run it from the desktop.
When iTunesTouch is first run, it will search for iTunes. If you do not have iTunes installed, it will not continue. If itunes is not loaded already, it will load it and minimise to the taskbar.
Once it’s all up and running, you will see a status message. This has three stages
- Reading Library
This is the part which takes some time, depending on the size of your library. The more tracks you have, the longer this stage will take. I’m working on speeding this up… don’t worry! - Generating Cover art
When the application is first run, this step will take longer as it’s getting each of your album art images and saving them to the size which is specified in the settings (120×120 I think is the default)
The next time you open the software, this step will be much quicker as it will read the cached images on disk. - Drawing Albums
This stage is fairly quick and should only take a few seconds. Again, it depends on the amount of albums you have.
PIN Number
The default PIN number is 0000.
Cover art size
Through the Admin settings panel you can change the cover size. This can be done manually or by clicking on one of the buttons with pre-filled in sizes. The new cover sizes will not be visible until the next time you close and load the application. When doing this, step 2 of the loading progress bar will take longer as for each album, a new image is generated.
…..more to follow soon. If you’ve any questions, please ask by commenting below.

Awesome plugin… or is it an add-on… either way its great. I would like to be able to search for an artist or album though… can you add this in a future version?
May 18th, 2010 at 9:11 pm
Hi Dave.
Thanks for the great comments! I have called it a plugin, but I guess it could be an addon also!
I also want to be able to search and have been thinking about this recently. I will try to get it in the next version.
Watch this space!
Thanks, Matt.

Have you been able to verify that your plug in works with windows 7?
June 3rd, 2010 at 2:10 pm
I’m still waiting for Windows 7. I had an upgrade, but it didn’t work on my mac (vmware)… so just trying to get a full version to test on. I’ll update the site as soon as I have something to report on!

Appears to be exactly what I’m looking for but a few questions. I have built a home bar and want to incorporate a touch screen jukebox. So I have my laptop including my itunes library which I assume I connect to an amplifier (cw speakers) then also to a standalone touchscreen monitor. Is it as simple as that?
June 27th, 2010 at 4:01 pm
@Ian – Yes essentially, that’s it! You can plug a touchscreen monitor to your VGA out on the laptop. The touchscreen monitor will have a USB or Serial connection which handles the touches. You then just install some software on the laptop to handle the touches and you’re off! My screen is a serial connection but most new ones are USB. Let me know if you need any more info

Well…. great great great job !!!
It’s what i’m looking for !! Thank you !!!
What are you thinking for updating ?
My humble opinion to make it beautiful: a search button with virtual keyboard, and a synchronization with ” REMOTE APP ” … do you think it’s possible ?
July 15th, 2010 at 4:57 pm
I have a touch screen also that uses serial and it works great, the only problem I have is the scroll bar is very small. I have a ton of music, 300 gigs which makes the scroll bar as small as possible. I hope you can fix this in an update along with the other suggestions I emailed you.
July 20th, 2010 at 1:42 pm
@Barragino – Yes search will come. As for sync with remote app, if you mean the iphone/ipod touch app, it technically already does that. If you select the ITunes DJ playlist to use, it will use that – which is the same as the remote app. It really is only meant for a “party mode”.
@Dave – I have some code for a nice pretty big scroll bar (using a much larger “ball” to scroll with), but wasn’t able to get it working for this release. I’ll try again for the next.

Hey,
I downloaded your program and changed the pin, and then proceeded to forget my pin.. is there any recovery from this? Or should I just redownload the program?
Also when running the program the albums appear without a specified order making it difficult to choose songs.
I am using this program in the youth center I work in so any information or help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your reply.
Another question… why I see only a part of my library in Album field ? Is there a number limit ?
July 26th, 2010 at 9:36 am
when i touch my screen…it will not move..O_O
August 17th, 2010 at 6:07 am
fantastic add-on however I’m struggling to display any album artwork. The DJ Playlist is populated and workes fine but the artwork box is empty – any ideas? I’m running XP and have installed .net 3.5. Also can’t get the mouse cursor to display while using it with a standard display. Thks.

Hi again, made some progress by tidying up my iTunes and now got most but not all of the albums – 47 out 56. Strange thing is that the tracks of the missing albums appear in the DJ Playlist together with album artwork but the album itself isn’t displayed in the Album window.
August 17th, 2010 at 5:28 pm
@Katie – I’m afraid the only way is to reinstall it. That should set the default back to 0000.
@Barragino – you should technically see your entire library. There’s no limit. I can’t think why you wouldn’t see it all – unless maybe some are network songs… but all mine are, so that shouldn’t be an issue. I’ll look in to it.
@Duncan – I think it’s the way I load the art work for the album. I get the FIRST track’s artwork and use that for the album… but in the tracklisting (DJ Playlist) it uses that specific track’s cover. For the album where it has no artwork, try adding all the songs to the play list and see if any don’t have a cover.
+++++++++ IN GENERAL +++++++++
I’ve had SO much work on at the moment I’ve not been able to update the package. I’ll do my best over the next couple of weeks to push an update.

Hey this is a very impressive start, take your time and think carefully about the updates. I am sure that you agree most of the wishlists are really good idea’s but please have any addition as an option from the admin screen (it’s nice to be able to offer all ages the chance to use a simple jukebox at a party).
I plan to use this with a touch screen at my 40th Birthday party and even as it is it will be brilliant, easier scrolling, searching and more interaction to pause etc would all be good.
Bottom line is that you are a hero, keep up the good work and start thinking about a premium addition

My Wishlist (In Order)
1 – Easier Scroll for touchscreens (standard / large option)
grabbing the screen line iphones /ipad would be amazing but hard.
2 – Search Mode (as optional)
3 – Nicer looking buttons at the bottom (as option)
Player controls such as pause with the admin being an icon also.
4 – On the Track Selection have the option just for a simple list (without the CD) and make it longer so there is not much need for a scroller, allow the users to just click the track rather than have to then click add to playlist.
5 – More Control over playlist (option so that admin could allow users to skip tracks and move up and down the playlist).
Finally I have a problem that it does not seem to show all my songs, just a selection of albums, I guess that’s something in my itunes setup, I have to be honest I have only started using iPlayer recently due to getting an i-phone I always preferred Media player but I realise I have now gone on too much LOL, nice one Mark.
Cheers
Dave

Great idea, too bad it won’t work with windows 7….. I’ll just keep searching.
I am retro fitting a 10 year old Wurlitzer CD Jukebox, adding a computer (which I all ready have) and modifying the front for a touch panel. This would be a great solution. Add the ability to have a remote panel, through wifi, with an ipad would be perfect. Also, with a waterproof case, the ipad itunes touch around the pool would be a homerun.

Hi Matt,
Absolutely love what you have done, absolutely perfect for the project I am working on.
Any chance of picking this project back up or offering it out for others to work on?
Id love to help given the chance – you made something Ive been after for a while!

dear matt,
ur tool is EXACTLY what i was looking for some loooong time!!
everything works perfect, besides one major fact:
out of the (4 now) available 400 covers, the prog only shows 17 .. and it appears as they are randomly taken (?)
do u have any guess why this happens and WHAT i can do to have all songs and albums shown, since the prog loads ALL songs and ALL albums.. but only 17 album artworks?
